Realtek 3D Soundback

If you have Vista (32 or 64) and a realtek audio driver, you may want to check this out. This utility "restores audio effects, including surround, reverbaration and spatial effects while running Legacy game titles on Vista" I tried it on FEAR, COD4 & WAW, Quake 4 and Doom 3 and noticed a pretty marked improvement (haven, tried on CA). It's very unobtruvise, after installation, just open it and enable the games you want it to apply to. Here's a link to the files, as I couldn't get them to upload.

blah.

I had a soundblaster live serie..

That one left to die by it's original creator.
So, I installed Vista, and my sound didnt work.
I had to manually install and search for drivers that where patched and recoded so it would finaly work.
My PC would never survive Windows 7 T_T
It'll die ...
