if your keylogged and u use a program to remove the virus is it possible to have a part of it still in your system where virus protection cant find it?

Yes ofc, a virus is a virus. Keylogging is keylogging. Your VP might not be able to check through every inch of your computer 
If you don't wanna format you can just download a keyscrambler. I'm using one even though I'm 100 that i don't have a keylogger. But in case.
