I have Java 64-bit installed completely, and whenever I set the render distance to "Far", it says you need the 64-bit version of Java installed.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and I downloaded MC for 64-bit.

It happens to me too. Don't worry about it. It still lets you see the far render, so it's not that much of a problem.
