“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” will be released on December 13, 2013

“The Hobbit: There and Back Again” will be released on July 18, 2014

I'M EXCITED, ARE YOU?

Yes and no. Not looking forward to watching it in 48 FPS, but stoked none-the-less.

Would be interesting to see what 48 fps looks like, but Ill probably stick with the 24fps for my first watch.

So you know nothing about the series, and assume because there's more than one film that they're just doing it for money? yeah no. Was originally 2 films set to be released but they decided to add a third to fill in a gap between the hobbit and lotr.

there was only one book about the hobbit and it was pretty short that's why i thought it was strange for them to make three films

LOTR was written as ONE book. It is always sold in groups of 3 or 6 for simplicity.
