2012 is a great example of false interpretation of a true event. Yes on 2012 the center of the galaxy, the sun and the earth will come into perfect alignment, and that's it. Aliens aren't coming to probe you, Planet "X" isn't colliding with the earth and excess gravity won't throw the earth off its axis. All that will happen on 2012 is the center of the galaxy will align with the earth and the sun, btw, this happens every year, on Dec 21st.
