Android update?

How could I update the Android OS manually as automatic doesn't work (says there are no updates available).
I got it 4 days ago and it's Android 2.3.6.

I just tap download update and it updated

It depend on some Phones. What phone do you have?

Samsung Galaxy S Advance.

if you want android 4 you have to root your phone first than you have to install recovery like clockworkmod
and install s3 rom through recovery

dont worry if you brick your phone. You can install the stock rom from fastboot. And if you worry about warranty than wait for a samsung release.

Perhaps the update isn't out for your country / provider yet?

So was it 2.3.6 -> 4.0?
Wouldn't it otherwise update to 3.0 at least?

3.x = Honeycomb = tablets.
