Python or Java

Hello, I have been looking into both languages, yet I'm stuck trying to decide which one I should try to learn. I am mostly interested in desktop applications and overall development if that helps. I would like to hear some people's opinions on which I should try first.

Sounds like that what you are looking for is Java. (Desktop Development on java vs python)

Well, I have decided to do Java, but of course I'm going to go back to other languages in the future sometime. Just bought a java book as well.
