Well I mean the Mayans weren't retarded. The sun, Earth, and the center of the Milky Way will all line up on December 21, so I do give them some credit. I believe they only believe this to be more or less the beginning of a new era, not the end of the world.
Nothing will happen, because we all forgot to incorporate leap years in association with the Mayan calender, so really, we would've died quite a few years ago.
