Remote Control Lag Switch
This is actually a lot more simple then you would believe, albeit time consuming
Although the steps may seem kinda long, I basically created the dummies guide to chip modification...

Step 1
You need the 12 volt key-chain remote control from here

Step 2, Open the box and take a look at the chip

Use a screwdriver to take out the two screws in the box and pull out the cip. Just labeled a few pieces on there for anyone who cares. The only part that actually needs to be changed is the switch. Right now, the red input wire supplies the power to the chip and the input to the switch.

Step 3, flip the chip over and desolder

Here you see the various parts of the switch on the back, basically what does what. Your chip will not yet be modified, so the part labeled input will just be a bunch of solder and it wont have that gash going by it. Now, notice the line of solder running from the input. Desolder that line right by the input soldering. If you are confused exactly where to desolder, look at the second picture posted in step 4. You want to desolder there so you can cut through to the foil underneath.

Step 4, cut the foil leading to the input.

Here is a picture without labels so you can see the whole thing. On the chip, the sections that are the lighter shade of green have foil under them. What you need to do is use an x-acto knife to cut a gash that cuts off the input from the rest of the chip.

Here is an image with the cut I made highlighted.

All you need to do is eliminate the foil connecting the input with the other sections of the chip and you are good. Please note that the foil is under a sheet of plastic, and you need to cut the actual foil to end the connection. If you do not cut this properly, and the connection is maintained, it will blow the ethernet port on your pc. If you have a multimeter, use it to make sure the connection is ended. If not, you can try seeing if it will power the fans on your computer case (I will post up how to do that if anyone asks).

Step 5, solder on the new wire
Once again looking at the back of chip, use some solder to attach a new wire to the input. After doing this, your chip should look like mine.

Step 6, get power through the molex connectors on your pc

Hook your chip up to your pc just like in the picture. On a molex connector from your power supply (the one shown in the pic) there should be four wires. Look to the side that has the yellow wire with a black wire right beside it and attach one of your grounds (the black wires from the chip) into the same slot as the black wire that comes from your power supply. Attach the red wire that came attached to the chip into the same slot as the yellow wire on the molex. It should look just like the picture shown above.

Step 7, Split the ethernet cord

This step is simple enough, cut open an ethernet cord and cut the orange wire. Strip the orange wires cover down so that you have access to a cm or two of brass wire.

Step 8, Attach the output and new input to the ethernet cord

Take the white wire, the output, and attach it to one of the orange wires by wrapping the brass wires around the metal extending out of the white wire. Take the new input wire (the one you soldered onto the bottom of the chip) and attach it to the other orange wire once again by wrapping the brass around the wiring in your input wire. Once you are done, plug the ethernet cord in.

Step 9, Put the box back on

Drill a hole in the underside of the box (the side with the screws) in the spot where the wire will come out. As you can see on mine, I missed a few times so I just put some tape over the other holes.

Step 10, learn how to use the remote control
Ok, this might get complicated. The on button turns your internet on, the off button turns your internet off.

Could this be condensed down? Yes, but I don't want to leave those who are new in the dark.

Post up any thoughts, anything that needs clarification, or anything else I guess.

holy sh*t! why would you tamper with your pc lol. i know if you know what your doing, its all good, but if your a newblet on the hardware, why do it?!?! an easier way to do that...without messin with the wires and all, just unplug the ethernet cord >.< im pretty sure it does the exact same thing as what your doing.. oo i just 'd you HA!

You know, 1 out of 10000000000000000000000 ppl here know how to even tamper and cut/strip wires and make sure the foil and other ect shit. Why post here?

Yes, it is about the same effect when you just unplug your ethernet cord, but the point of this is that you have the little clicker. It is for convience and, if you follow the directions, it should not take but 20 minutes or so to make. That way your just clicking a button on and off instead of pulling out your ethernet cord and placing it back in.

And to apeguy, some people may know how and will benefit from it, or maybe those who don't can go get some help from parents and/or friends. Learning would be a good change on here, seeing as all most people do now is complain about how Dave is not making hacks...

Modding your computer like this just to glitch your internet connection is stupid and foolish.

i dont see a point for doing this...

There was no modding done to the actual computer... All I did was draw power from the power supply. The only danger is maybe blowing a ethernet port, but that would only happen if you did not do a check with a multimeter (which I am sure everyone either has one or knows somebody with one).

wether you will do this or not,

its negative comments like those of you who laughed at this idea that make alot of people not want to take the time to write tutorials on how to do things..

he took the time to take pics and go through the whole process step by step and most of you had nothing better to do then laugh or poke fun at his net switch ??
I think its a great idea.. I dont know if it is something that I would use personally but regardless I do respect the creativity in this idea..

good write up syphon1313..

Dude, that's what I've been looking for! I couldn't find anything on a R/C lag switch. What I did find for R/C switch's was expensive. I'm ordering the remotes right now. I'm so sick of laggers that I'm going to join them. I won't lag against someone who isn't lagging or glitching. But, if you are you're you are fair game. Unfortunately some people can't play fair and make it suck for the rest of us.

nice job!
