All depends on where you're downloading the file from.
If you're downloading torrents it could take awhile or could be done quick.

and btw, Also a very important factor is the server ure downloading from. Some servers Can Increase your speed ALOT and others might make it 20 mbps..

no shit... it was taking me 45mins with a 700kbps -_-
Your 1Gb files should take you 15 minutes give or take...
As FiOS rolls out here Early 2013... Speeds will range from 50Mbps (5MB/s) - 300Mbps (30MB/s)... Can't wait...
