Im getting Fiber Optic this weekend and on my package it says

Download speeds of 50 Mbps
Upload speeds of 50 Mbps

Whats the difference between mbps and MBps and Mbps.
and
How long will it take to download an 1GB file if the speed is constantly the same

MBps means megabytes per second;
Mbps means megabits per second

50 MBps = 50 Megabyte Per Second.

1000 Megabyte = 1 Gigabyte.

Figure out what 50mbps = in GBps

then (data amount in GB)/GBps=Time it takes to download the file.

All depends on where you're downloading the file from.
If you're downloading torrents it could take awhile or could be done quick.

Just wondering, is 50Mbps alot or its the average?

and btw, Also a very important factor is the server ure downloading from. Some servers Can Increase your speed ALOT and others might make it 20 mbps..

50Mbps = 5,120Kb/s (5MB/s) Download & Upload Speed... So a 1Gb file should take less than 45 Minutes to download

no shit... it was taking me 45mins with a 700kbps -_-

Your 1Gb files should take you 15 minutes give or take...
As FiOS rolls out here Early 2013... Speeds will range from 50Mbps (5MB/s) - 300Mbps (30MB/s)... Can't wait...
