I live about 40-50 minutes away from Manhattan.

Thankfully, I didn't lose power or nothing too serious happened around my area from Sandy.

Same. It's scary dark. Just like 2 blocks down from my house, the whole like 4 miles is all dark. Creepy. Like a zombie apocalypse Lol.

A person died where I previously used to live. I heard a tree fell on their house or something, can't recall what my friends said.

True. Though I got sick of that stuff. Glad I'm back in the city. During this summer, I visited Canada and the rocky mountains, seattle etc and holy shit each stop was like 4-6 hours apart. I had to hold my piss in.
