Getting confused with MySQL
Hello folks,

I'm currently trying *grr* to code a Login System with MySQL.
A friend of mine is helping me with his own Domain - means he got his own MySQL Server (PhPmyAdmin or something).
I used alot of Tutorials and everything works fine out of Connecting to the Database.
We can also create Tables/Databases and everything in it but we can't get remote access (using my Login program).

Always the same error:

We aren't that good with MySQL .. don't be that mad at ur stupidity :S.

---------------------------
MySQL Login
---------------------------
No connection to Database : Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Can someone help us getting that done?

Post your code (block out the SQL authentication info) and I'll see what I can do.
Whats the connection string, indeed? (Exclude pass and user obv)
Here's a snippet:

Code:
Dim msql As MySqlConnection
msql = New MySqlConnection

msql.ConnectionString = "server=mysql.oursitename.de;" _
                                                 & "user ID=username;" _
                                                 & "password=ourpassword;" _
                                                 & "database=67610_0" 'Thats database name
I know you want to use mysql but there are different ways of logging in. More secure ways i mind you. But that's just my say.
Does your server allow for Remote MySQL connections? Most don't these days. Even if they do, chances are you'll have to add a whitelist of who can remotely connect in your server config (can usually be done though a cPanel setup).

Really, though, you shouldn't remotely connect to your database at all. Learn some basic PHP (there are many tuts on this forum) and create a login page on the server, then use HttpWebRequests to send data to the page for processing and deal with the pages return. This way you don't need to ever store your sensitive database details in a distributed application (which can be easily reversed).
We just take a look around.. using phpsupport and we got to know: We can't access remotely to the Server..
