No, there were 300 Spartans, 2000 altogether with the Greeks (Athens).

yea stupid and the reason they didnt send the rest of the spartan army was because the farm workers they had at home were all slaves and they didn't want a rebellion while the whole army was gone so thats why only 300 went, and they actually did manage to kill a couple thousand Persians

all i have to say....the movie rox....but that's not how the spartans fought...

I have to admit, I'd been looking forward to this movie for a long time now. I had really high expectations for it, and it didn't let me down as some of the movies in the past have. Overall 10/10.

Great movie, and they could continue it because at the end it shows that the man with one eye was narrating the whole story to the soldiers going off to war again... so WOOT WOOT, THIS IS SPARTA
