ohh okay

Try using Bootcamp(For Win7) or Parallels Desktop(For any version).
For both of them, though, you will need a Windows installation disk.
If you use Bootcamp there should be no need to purchase anything but the disk(the software is included in OS), but for parallels activate the trial, I have a working serial key lying around there somewhere.

Isn't there a feature on Mac which lets you go into "Windows mode"?

That would be bootcamp/parallel desktop. It costs additional money for a Windows license though and additional space.
