Why does formatting take so long

My hard drive is only 320 gigabytes and it's taken 20 minutes and it is only at 22%

at this rate installation will take like 3 hours

I never stayed awake to format. I always do it at night when I go to sleep.

What kind of format is it?

If its a fast format, it will just mark all the sectors as free, which is supposed to be very quick :S

I realized this afterwards

I'm always used to not using the quick option, but I never remember it being this slow

I guess I learned not to do a full format with Windows XP sp3 again

it's already at 86% yayyy
