Server possibly in development - suggestions/ideas needed

Hey, so I think I'm going to develop another server. I used to have a big server group with an old friend. We had our own "corporation" and we had about 5 servers under the name. We were pretty popular for about 6 months until my partner was arrested for attempting to suicide and drugs. Money went nowhere, and servers died.

Anyways, I'm thinking of starting it up again, but starting pretty small and work my way up again. In general, I'm thinking of making another server. I think I want to make a prison server, but I'm not sure. Please suggest any ideas, or servers for me to make. I'm open to suggestions, and I'd greatly appreciate them.

another idea could be an FTB server if enough people like it.

An entire city and then turn it into like a FPS minecraft

It was the prison server.

Why did the developer go to jail for attempting suicide? I'm pretty sure you go to a mental health group for that.

Well when he got back I guess his mom called the cops on him. He's 16 now, off and on. I guess he hasn't attended school for 2 months now.

Also, if anyone knows in any good and reliable hosts, tell me. Last host I used was Beastnode I believe; I don't feel like going down that road again.

I'm not an expert with hosting but try Atlantic hosting (atlantic . net) It was the host a previous server had when I played on it. Also if you need help building or anything else please feel free to PM/VM me!

Sounds interesting. I think some cool suggestions would be a vanilla white list server like Mindcrack. Or the other suggestions already provided especially Feed The Beast. Good luck with the server xD!

Do you guys like Prison Servers? RPG servers? What do you guys like? Keep telling me. I also had a big idea a long time ago, a big RPG server that was really.. mmm. Well, I thought it'd be very fun - it is fun, as long as you have an active community and what not.

[spBasically the idea was to have say 4-5 regions. By regions, I mean groups of people (for example, the Aztecs). Each would reside very far from each other and in their own enviorment. (Aztecs = jungle). I'll continue to use Aztecs as my main example. Anyways, so there'd be like 4 other regions. Now, inside the Aztecs (and every other region) you'd have different classes. One would be a fighter, a miner, a blacksmith, a builder, or something. Now, each one is class restricted to do many things, and to different tools. For example, a fighter can only use up to iron armor, but only a blacksmith can access a crafting table. Then to get food, you'd have to have a farmer. Only farmers can own hoes, and plant seeds.

So basically there'd be a class for everything, but you'd need to build up your "empire" we'll call it, and basically there'd be war between regions, stealing, etc. All classes would be class restricted, and it'd be very fun and much of a team effort. I already know how I can do this with specific plugins, I just wanna know if anyone thinks it's interesting. This is basically a simplified version and very shortened idea of mine. If anyone's ACTUALLY interested in that and thinks it could do well, please tell me and give me suggestions on it.

RPG server would be good

I think that would be a really awesome idea, but the problem like you stated is having a very large and active community. I think a good idea is creating groups of people that would live in the sky, underground, or underwater. (Which would give it a nice variety and make their homes and bases a little bit more special. =)
