Restore your crossfire folder with a older version of it that was working before you got that error. Just go to your crossfire folder properties and go to the 'older versions' tab, choose a version(by version i mean the crossfire folder you had before that suits the date and still didn't get that error). if you don't have any restore points, you won't find any older version. If so, you must activate the restore points by activating the restore system to your hard drives.

OR...

Go to C:/Windows/System32/Drives/Etc./ and delete all the files inside it. Run crossfire again.
