Nope, its too long to catch up on. If you can read the manga do that, avoid the anime at all cost.(its full of filler).

This I gave up after episode 80.

It's excellent, don't listen to what Empire said, most of the fillers are either good, or can be easily avoided.

Take the original series for example, just watch up until episode 135, and then watch the end of episode 220. The only one you should skip from 1-135 is 26.

And for Shippuden, the only fillers that were bad that I would really skip are:

Episodes 176-196

and

Episodes 223-242

Everything else is cannon, or were GOOD fillers that I enjoyed. (And even in what I told you to skip, there were some cool stuff too, but most of it was shit sadly. :S) I don't know what the guy who said he only got to episode 80 was on, there was only 1 episode of filler in that (26, like I said before), the rest was canon. Oh well.

The series is at 500+ episodes,

Sorry, but for how much naruto covers, its not worth the watch. Read, sure. But you'll be wasting your time watching one of the slowest anime in history, actually, probably the slowest, if you watch the anime.
-----------------

Also, when you read the manga you understand how incredibly much ALL the fillers detract from the actual story.

First half(non shippudden) had like.....i think 50% fillers. Thats half an anime that has no relation to the real plot or gives anything to it. Hell they made episodes were they did fucking errands it got so bad.
-------
Shippudden is a different story but it still drags the fuck out of every fight. 2-3 episodes, is fine. 5-6 for a single fight? On this scale? Nooooooooooope.
-------------

Anyway, if you wanna get into naruto read the manga. Its a lot better than the anime in well....everything and won't waste your time(by much).

There are plenty of other great series as well, I'd reccommend giving any of them a try before naruto.

I agree but I've been watching an episode weekly for the past few years, even though I haven't read the manga the anime is full of fillers.

Sometimes I don't even think you read what you're responding to...

I listed which episodes should be skipped, including just about everything you bitched about. But I liked almost all the fillers anyways, even a lot of them that I told him to skip.

Plus, 6 episodes for a fight? That's nothing...It's like you haven't watched DBZ or something...6 is short as fuck.

Don't listen to what Empire says, he doesn't even like Naruto in general, watch the anime, just skip what I told you to.

Yeah but in DBZ that was the entire boss. Frieza/cell/Buu were the main enemies and took up that much time, most other guys were beaten in the episode or the episode after in a rare case. They also were made a lot earlier in time and had a much larger scale for each fight.
------------

TO OP:
Anyway. Skip these Naruto & Naruto Shippuden Fillers | Naruto HQ
There are a bit more, but that covers most of them.
-----------

Again, Highly reccommend manga over anime. Or at least watch it after, its a huuuuge time sink.
