Hello guys. This is my first time posting, or even browsing this section. So, I was wondering if anybody can help me.
The specs for my Toshiba Qosmio are as stated below:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 450 @ 2.40GHz
RAM: 6.1 GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Video Card: GeForce GT 330M (I updated to latest driver)
Sound Card: NVIDIA High Definition Audio
So, everything there is decent for a laptop. The only thing I don't like about it is the video card. I have done some research, and from what it seems, the GT 330M is not that good.
Anyways, what I wanted to point out is that I can not play most games on this laptop, such as: Just Cause 2, ect. I tried playing Just Cause 2 today, and I could barely play due to lag. So if I cannot play that game, I doubt I will be able to play others.
The thing is, I saw videos on YouTube of people playing many modern games on a GT 330M with an i3, and less RAM than I have.
Some videos:
and many others...
I don't know why I cannot play games smoothly on my laptop. I am not to familiar with computer hardware, ect, but I am planning on getting into it this summer.
Is there any way I can run these games, or any others such as, Grand Theft Auto IV, Hitman Absolution, ect? Its just so annoying not being able to run them, but seeing other people run them on the same specs, or even worse. Please not, I do not know how to over-clock.
You need to be able to drop the settings down to a very bare minimum. Lower reso's, and turning off all extra settings, primarily AA.
Nvidia GT330M isn't a really powerful card, you should either upgrade to a better laptop or just play everything on the lowest settings possible.
The people who made them videos are playing the game at 1280x720 and below.
That's what you will have to do to get playable framerates.
But anyway, the 330m is an old, not very powerful car and you're not going to get much if any performance from it.
Just stick to Minecraft
I'm planning on building my own PC in the (maybe) near future.

Building your own pc is the best, since you can put whatever you want, and can change it whenever you want. ^^
I know. I was planning on doing it at the ending of last year, but I lost interest in it as I still played console.
