Are some games impossible to hack?

Is it even possible to hack server side games legally?

My buddy asked for help with Kingdoms at War.

I honestly don't think it's possible to hack server side games; especially ones that are proprietorially phone based.

Maybe you can change the packets that go out to trick the server to giving you something you don't have?

That could be considered illegal, no?

I want to do research on the topic, but I don't even know if it's worth my time.

I want to cheat on blood brothers and my friend wants to cheat on kingdoms at war.

Server sided games (MMORPGs) are ... Hard.
You'll have to hack their network to get access to the database and stuff, but I'm afraid that's not legal.

Making the hack, accesing the database it's illegal, using the hacks it's diferent

tell him to be creative.. I remember i was playing a game where you had to upload your own profile pic or something and some guy simply added a code to a picture and gave everyone shit load of stuff for nothing. It would probably stay undetected if he would keep it of the public.

I figured as much. It's not worth going to jail for a few extra coins on a video game. I'm sure people still do it though

only thing i know is server sided games, or things in games that are server sided ( cash shops, some games with DRM, MMORPGS that require a subscription)
you can get sued and receive jail time i believe since it is considered as theft or some shit

Yes it is illegal. First of all, any kind of hacking that is deemed to be harmful to the target is a federal offense. Second, add onto the fact that it was preemptive, that would take on a conspiracy charge. Then you have the multiple theft charges for whatever you changed, electronic vandalism, and I'm sure many others.

So the consensus is that it's definitely illegal, but that doesn't change the fact that I've seen people hack games like WoW, Diablo III, and the old Utlima Online.

I know it's definitely possible. I've often wondered how people can get away with duping items etc and then sell them on their websites.

So in short: people who dupe / hack server side games in general are criminals. All I needed to know. I just started studying information security, so I don't think it's a good idea for me to sully my reputation with anything illegal. Thanks guys!

No, people that rape and kill are criminals, those who "play" with videogames, are just players.

Yeah its very illegal, some guys that made a big botting program for WoW got sued for a few million

that'd suck.

Downloading music is illegal too, but it's not prosecuted very often. Is this the case with hacking games? ISPs aren't allowed to give out your information without a warrant and the only other way they could track you is with hardware addresses, but if unregistered it leads nowhere.

Are some games impossible to hack?
