It can be in many different scenarios. For example:

If you very best friend was in trouble, would you sell him out? And let us presume he was wrongfully accused and that he did nothing wrong. If you sell him out, he would get in serious shit.

Or this situation:

You had the infos to your best friend's secrets. If someone would give you whatever you wanted realistically (money, etc) for those secrets, would you?

Bunch of situations, but those are to name a few.
If you sell out your friend, I don't think you should be friends with him no more.
Sell him out, then buy back his friendship, a true friend would understand.

it depends of the situation
I wouldn't do that to anybody, yet alone my friends. If I want something desperately, I'd get it myself. If I'm not capable of getting it, then I would let it go; life goes on. If my life depended on it, well I guess I'm gone. Just because I need something desperately doesn't mean I have to ruin someone's life in return. It's simply not fair.

Yeah it all depends on the situation. While most wouldn't for the first one, many would probably for the second one.
I wouldn't, mostly due to the fact anything realistic isn't worth a friendship.

If he was in some kind of a trouble , like a fight ?
Huh I would rather to damage my car etc. etc. Just to help him.
Friend over anything else.

Depends what kinda friend were talking about. Close friend, or classmate friend?
