Its illegal yes. You would need a special webbrowser which makes you "anonymous". Use Tor.

I myself will never go on the Deep web.

Most used method is through the TOR network. Yes, I would consider it highly illegal.

The most common method is through TOR, which has a built in proxy.

the url extension is .onion only compatible on the TOR browser..

Yeah, I think the stuff that's normally illegal is obviously illegal but some people use the deep web to store stuff or make a private business
