This game makes me feel retarded
I'm a Computer Science major yet installing mods on this game makes me feel like a 70 year old nun.
Why the fuck won't Forge let me use HD textures? I've tried all builds 700+ with OptiFine D2 and D3 not shit happens. All items become invisible and blocks stay default. I've tried Java7 both 32/64bit and even Java8. But textures never want to work. I can install mods perfectly, but what's the point of modding without HD textures??!!111one??
None of the official Minecraft forum websites want to respond and Forge's forum won't load so I figure I could at least get one response from you guys.

I have Win8 64bit and running Minecraft 1.5.2. I use MultiMC though I've tried manual installations and Magic Launcher as well.
It can't be anything about my PC though as it worked perfectly before when I just ran ModLoader, OptiFine, and Rei's but now I want some more mods since Vanilla SinglePlayer is boring. As said, everything installs and works fine, but texture packs won't work.
