Dead Gpu?

Im sorry if this is in the wrong section, I couldn't decide weather to put it in the Help section or the hardware section.

So i was on mpgh going threw the form and all of a sudden my screen fucked up. I tried restarting my computer I even took my gpu out and put it back in it was still messed up. Im using the on-board graphics card right now and its working fine so Im guessing its my gpu. Here is my system.

CPU Intel Core 2Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 Ghz
Ram: 6GB DDR2 (shit ram -_-)
PSU: Basiq 450 watt
MBoard: Not sure it was in it when i bought it.
GPU: Gtx 520
OS: Windows 7 Professional

My friend got it too. But his stripes were green. It was his GPU so he bought a new one.. You can't make it. He went to some services and they said it can't be fixed.
