Whats the point of the marble thingy?

I use the one that came with my pc so what ever they where selling with xp 4 years a go.

It costs a lot but gets the job done.

normally on a laser mouse the laser points down contacting a table a pad etc etc on this mouse the laser is pointing at the ball
so to move the cursor you move the ball not the entire mouse

I use a G9 mouse with a G15 keyboard

those are nice but im but im not a big fan of logitch anymore.. since i bought a headset from them and right out of the box the mic didnt work.. >.<
