I Need Help

Its my step dads birthday soon and I was looking to buy him a tablet but am not too familiar with that side of the market. My budget is around $400 and I want him to have one of the better tablets since it will be mostly for his job.

I looked online but really have no idea what I should be looking for. I'll trust some people on here may know a thing or two and can point my towards a decent device.
