Need some Guidance
Hey everyone

I have this little idea in my head that I think I should do it. I am not going to tell what my idea is because gonna keep that a secret for now.

I do have questions because I have never done game programming so I need some guidance on where to start. Technically my idea is not a game but think of it as a bot that will be injected in the game. I wana know how do these bots inject in games and hook on to the things inside the game for example it can read the game score or numbers of kill in a fps things like that.

I know VB, Java, and C++ but I am no expert but if there are some tutorials similar to what I am asking please direct me to them.
Extremely pointless post wouldnt you say? how are we suppose to give "guidance" or "support" when your project is a "secret" you want to know how to inject into games? use an injector to hook into the game exe wala "happy face" unless your willing to give more "information" this is pointless lol there are somany different methods etc. Anyways goodluck

LOL I asked specific questions such as how are bots injected in the games, I want some code to look at, that is explained? how do the bots hook onto the game data? I am guessing something like how cheat engine works is what I am referring to, like pointers etc.
@OP "I wana know how do these bots inject in games and hook on to the things inside the game for example it can read the game score or numbers of kill in a fps things like that."

Windows(R) has a TON of functions related to running programs. Same thing with memory.

Basically just use windows API's, like ReadProcessMemory and WriteProcessMemory. With those 2 you can do quite a lot.

If all you want to do is read, then you just need OpenProcess() and ReadProcessMemory.

Finding specific functions in the game (like that one that "chooses team" or something similar) is a little more complex.

Depends what you're trying to do exactly. I like WriteProcessMemory() and hard-coded bytecode.

edit: To be clear, if all you want to do is "read the game data, like score and health" , there is no "hooking on"..you just use RPM to read some memory location for that process.

Also, if you're going the "injected" route, then obviously you're running code FROM WITHIN that process, so you don't need the special api(which lets you access ANOTHER process), all the memory operations are local.
Thanks for the explanation man, but how can I get that specific memory location because games have a lot going on in them so how do I know which one is health and which one is the number of kills etc? how will I differentiate them?
