Do Gaming Mice Really Make A Difference?
For World of Warcraft even my mates who don't play games that munch spent money on a Razer Naga Same with me it improves the gameplay Allot as you find it more comfortable to be in combat, For shooters not so much other than the ease of swapping weapons using melee.
Personally I think it does, I remember with my regular office mouse and mouse mat I was getting about 20 kills in most of my BF3 multiplayer 30 minute matches but as soon as I got my Naga hex and the control edition mouse mat I can see my gameplay has improved to about 50 to 70 kills per game as well as being able to use my mouse even faster now when on my computer because its just soo silky smooth
If you use a wireless mouse, it's worth it IMO. If you're wired, I have no opinion.
If the one you are using is fine. I wouldnt bother upgrading, spend your money on something else. Dnt fix what isnt broken.
I love my mouse I got a razer deathadder :/
Me i have had questions like this before, you cant prove it by satistics and all that BS, the only way you will be able to tell if you actually go ahead buy a £5 gaming mouse and then buy a R.A.T 7 or any other gaming mouse doesnt matter and you should be able to tell, me personally i can tell but my friend he got the R.A.T 9 as he can afford it and he would rather stick with a shitty £12 gaming mouse as he said it feels and acts exactly the same... but i disagree with him, only you will be able to tell.
Does this answer your question?
I once purchased a Razer Naga Epic, but after trying it out I noticed I performed much better with my old(ish) Logitech mouse. This was, however, with a First Person Shooter, and I didn't really give the mouse much of a chance (got a refund soon afterwards). It certainly isn't something you need to be better at a game, but it's certainly cool having a mouse specifically designed for what you're doing. I've been using the same mouse for a few years, and I've gotten used to the feel of it, but I plan on purchasing a Razer League of Legends mouse in the near future, simply because it'll make it easier to access QWER and DF abilities. This is because it has configurable buttons on the side of the mouse.
So, does a gaming mouse really make a difference? It all depends on personal preference and the exact gaming mouse you have an eye on.

IMO, I believe that gaming mice make a difference but not due to the way they are made, Anything that makes you feel better, or more professional, will make you play better. For example.
If you have a gaming character skin, Let's say Cosmetic Combat arms Gear or League of legends skins, it's proven players usually play alot more professional and well, just improve their performance overall, I don't know if you understand what i'm saying, but your mind can make you feel better.

I like their feel but they just feel weird. I guess I'm just WAY to used to my simple logitech mouse. I like the smoothness of the plastic on gaming mice but I find the "made to fit your hand" stuff that it's built in, really really annoying
I use a naga and it really doesn't make a difference since the buttons are hard to use.
