It's too stroke-ish,the grey blur ruins the image too.
What ruins this image is that the concept is clean and sharp,but it's not done in the same way.
That's why it looks better when viewed from "afar" than in a 1:1 scale.

Ah, yes. The "grey blur" you are referring to i assume is the grey nearing the outside of the image? I agree with this, it's too heavy and the "chops" in it makes it less visually appealing. Maybe if you were to make it a little more subtle it could work.

Yep,i meant the outside blur indeed.
Also,check this fact: If you look at the image from far away (or just check the forum's resized image) the strokes look sharp and clean,however,when zoomed in,you then notice that sharp effect is instead a blur.
That truly ruins it imo.
On a side note: the shadow effect behind the "brushy ball" flattens the image greatly.
