[TUT] Disable AVG

Since many people are having a lot of problems with AVG . Heres a brief TUT on how to fully disable AVG

1. Open Task Manager. Kill 'avgtray.exe'.
2. Start > Run, type in 'services.msc'.
3. Find the service 'AVG8 WatchDog'. Right click on it, hit Properties,
and set the StartUp Type option to Disabled (Not Manual).
4. Go back to Task Manager. End the process 'avgwdsvc.exe'. End the
process 'avgrsx.exe' (this process may take 10-20 seconds to end).

if you want to open AVG again
1. Click Start > Programs > AVG Free
8.5 > AVG Tray Icon.
2. Start > Run, type in 'services.msc'.
3. Find the service 'AVG8 WatchDog'. Right click on it, hit Properties,
and set the StartUp Type option to Automatic.

You can't end AVG's process. Finally you actually helped for once...

A better way is:
1.)Right Click avg tray icon
2.)open avg user interface
3.)double click resident shield
4.)Deselect Resident Shield Active Checkbox.
doing it this way prevents you from having to go through all the stuff you mentioned to turn avg AV back on.

Thanks Banned4Life. Now I can finally disable my friends AVG to give him hacks.

Actually, you can't really 'shut off' an antivirus, ever it'll run in the background.

Even when killing the process you halt it from doing it job but you don't really stop it. :P
