everytime I get this though. Besides the video doesn't go over the connection thing.

I makes no sense. Whats a default connection? How do you do that? Every time it won't connect.

when you install mysql for the first time, it will have that default connection on the mysql workbench (see my pic). you dont need to make that 'rotmg' and 'pserver' connections (see your pic). try to reinstall your mysql and restart your pc. actually im not sure, 'no connection' thing in your case can be caused by many things

I tried to reinstall it. No connections at all.

Now I know what's your problem. You have to install MySQL Server for it to work

The workbench doesn't help if you don't have the server at all. Workbench makes changes to the server, does not host it.
