The download is 20-25 Gb. Origin is being retarted and thinks it's a 50 Gb download. The actual game, fully extracted and installed, is 50 Gb. Origin automatically extracts the files at certain percentages of your download. That's why you see your download speed being WAY higher than it is. You're "downloading" at 20 Mb/s, but I can't imagine you having a 160 megabits connection. That's the speed at which it is extracting the files to your hard drive. My speed switches from 5 Mb (downloading) to 50 Mb (extracting). So relax.
The huge file size is "justified" by Respawn Entertainment.
We probably could have had audio decompress off disc but we were a little worried about min spec and the fact that a two-core machine would dedicate a huge chunk of one core to just decompressing audio.
So… it’s almost all audio… On a higher PC it wouldn’t be an issue. On a medium or moderate PC, it wouldn’t be an issue, it’s that on a two-core [machine] with where our min spec is, we couldn’t dedicate those resources to audio.
So this size actually makes the game run better on lower end PCs, which is a good thing. This means more people will be able to buy and enjoy their game.
