Oculus Rift

Oculus Rift was possibly hosting Minecraft on the Rift to enhance the current MC. Lol as soon as Facebook bought it, the MC creator cancelled the deal because "Facebook creeps him out". No high hopes for the Rift, if it's affordable I may purchase one, but my hopes for it just died out.

Yeah, because of this the creator of Minecraft broke the deal to implement Rift. He said it's because Facebook is "creepy".

OT: man the oculus rift is expensive as my balls

Aaaand I need to pick up a DK2 now, before they sell out, since Facebook will butcher Oculus. Crystal Cove seemed pretty good and had much better internals than DK1, so the Dev Kit 2 will be a damn fine piece of hardware.

While I remember the original Kickstarter, clear as day, a lot of people seem to have been expecting Oculus to stay where it was after launch and continue with small revisions and focus only on gaming. However, I was pretty much expecting them to branch out at some point, but totally didn't see the Facebook buyout (and for $2 billion!!! Geez) coming. Even funnier, the definition of the word kickstart is to give a quick start, so of course at some point they'd be having to seek additional funding and explore other options. VR has HUGE, HUGE, HUGE potential in other sectors, aside from gaming, and I'm expecting it to explode in the next <10 years after they've ironed the kinks out, which probably won't even be a problem due to the rate that technology is advancing at.

It's unfortunate though, I really would've liked to have seen Oculus stay in gaming. But, like I said, there's lots of potential elsewhere. I wonder how John Carmack's taking this...
