Editing vars.Arma3Profile?
I have spent the last few hours looking into the Arma 3 config files, and I'm interested in the vars.Arma3Profile file. I don't know much about programming, but it looks like this is a binary rap file? I used unrap which then produced a .cpp file and ProfileVariables.hpp. Since these are text files, can I edit the hpp file in notepad and then use a program to re-rapify the file into the config binary? Is there a specific program I need to use? I see one called rapify but want to make sure it is compatible with Arma 3. Will Battleeye detect that I have done this? I of course don't mind doing the research into this and learning how to do it if someone can let me know if I'm on the right track or a good site for additional info on this specifically. Thanks a lot for any help.
Update - spent several more hours with it. I can successfully derapify the config file to text, then rapify it back to binary and play on a server with no problems. If I try to change any variable however (even just changing 1000.0 to 1100.0), I get kicked off the server for having a corrupted profile, or have the option for the server to reset my profile.

How can the server possibly know there is an issue with my profile when I am only changing one number? Is there another check built into the config file that I am missing? I know all of this data must be stored client side only. I am specifically trying to join King of the Hill servers.
What are you trying to do? End goal? I know a few people who have dabbled in player profile exploits but not for Arma3 as far as I know, with a topic like this, im sure someone is far more likely to help you in private...
I think there's an encoded/encrypted checksum line last in the section added by the mod.
If you could find out what encryption is used you can prolly get away with changing it.
End goal is to edit money and experience values. lromlin - I bet you're right. So you're saying there is probably a checksum added by the mod whenever it saves, which matches the config values against what the mod is saying I am supposed to have? That would make sense. From looking over the file, I am betting it is this (not the actual checksum from my file, but this is what it looks like):

class Item2
{
class data
{
class type
{
type[] = {"STRING"};
};
value = "CHT7jNxMo8VPBOQSjGdsg6xD4yLWvU9LieXMLOqGMwLeYBFnv zJFN7lvx7BWiC0tfLyFfcyEoDMEFW7o16vuCvuD5CdJafWqD6k sg68s53kptmyD91Tdy0cdeff4s

If that is the case and it is unbreakable, I would actually be pretty happy, because I would prefer the mod to contain no possibility of cheating. I am pretty high level already and fine with grinding. But if you can alter these values, I want to know how to do it.

The config file also includes your profileid in the datum, which would explain how you wouldn't be able to just borrow someone's profile and import it.
Yeah that's probably the one.
