Another game that is through gift or key sure, not free game I think. Otherwise the AppID patch will fail to add the DLC.

Yer nor can I, i have been trying different methods for hours and even buying and trying game keys and it still hasnt worked

make sure steam accnt has a game on it
delete all in /appcache, start steam and let update
close steam after login
start dlc patch, add dlc appids
set packageinfo.vdf Read-only after dlcpatch
start steam and check grp dlcs

if that doesnt work then too bad, its not exactly rocket science

I did everything what you said except read-only thing, as you didn't mention it in the first post.
After cleaning appcache and starting steam again, I cannot patch the .vdf file anymore. The program just stops responding.

1. Make sure, Steam is not running´
2. Start "AppID_Patch.exe" as Admin
3. Select your packageinfo.vdf
4. Add the Dlc Id's ( Enter ID , press patch , Enter ID , press patch [...] )
5. packageinfo.vdf to Readonly.
6. Done.
