Difference between rep and thanks

As it says what is the difference?

I see people who have more rep then thanks

how does this occur since rep is harder to earn

There's a similarity, you get banned when asking for them

People respect their post and rep them I guess.

Rep means REPUTATION

Thanks is THANKS

It's not hard to get rep, you're just not posting anything worthy enough to deserve it.

Newphags can't give reputation. It's easier to get 59 newphags to thank me than to get you to rep me once, plus it'll take a long time before you can rep me again unlike thanks.

It is, but if you're new, and no one have repped you, gaining rep should be relatively easy in general as long as you're not being a ******
