No, URL encoding only happens on URLs primarily, and HTML markup only happens invisibly, HTML sided. WYSIWYG.

So I guess I was just imagining forms sending the HTML data making certain letters into code?

Forms do it for GET data, not POST data, but it's irrelevant, for your eyes only.

The only downside to it is that you can't get mentions, hard as fuck to PM you, etc...

People could mention if they copy paste my name.
Why on earth would the ability to PM me be hard? Because of that one letter?

Well, I assume people wouldn't bother messaging me with completely trivial stuff, so I guess it's a plus.

Whoever wrote mentions did a terrible job, doesn't work at all with special characters.

Yeah not sure about foreign symbols, but my alt has the squared symbol in it.
