Cracking Help

So recently, I have gotten into getting myself an alternate because I need one. I started off with EggCrack, though I have switched to a Python Cracker now. I always have one problem: I can never crack a single account, not one. I've used a 30 million password list on EggCrack, but that's to slow, so I switched to a simple one but that never works. I asked my friend about it and he made me realize I should focus on one account. I'd like to know how to get a sense if an account is an alt of someone, because I don't want to be cracking mains because they are most likely more protected. I'd also appreciate if someone can help me with cracking, because people can get full lists done in one day and I can't even get one. Thanks in advance!
