Why are private servers so jumpy?

The obvious answers are that peoples VPS' are terrible and unable to put up with the lag, and then memory leaks and such. But back in the earlier WS days of realm they didn't have advanced servers or anything and they didn't have problems anywhere near as constant as pservers do. Why can't anything be done to make current pservers like that?

The problem is that everyone is using the same faulty networking code. You got to remember, we are all amateurs here. Those underlying issues are not easy fixes and require a lot of patience, know how and insight to fix. Currently, something that not very many people here possess.

Well it can be fixed. I've done some work on this myself with some success on my own server. I'm not at the point where I want to openly share the code that I worked so hard on, so I can't say anything about whether it will be fixed for other servers in the foreseeable future.

Kabam's having the same problem as well. It has become very obvious that most of the recent deaths are due to lag.
