The effects look horrible, however the one in your current siggy with the girl is somewhat decent.
I suspect the C4D in front overlaps the focal pont (being the gun man) so Isuggest cut the C4D, blur it, add a light white layer on top of the head. gaussian blur the rest around, not much, try adddin gradient map and blend it as you think it suits it.
