If two people have the same number, doesn't that reduce the probability of them winning by 50%? They won the initial 1/100 roll but have to roll again, so you definitely don't want to pick the same number as someone else.

Picking a different number should yield the same odds of success as picking a number that 100 other people have chosen.
The odds of you winning the reroll are similar to the odds of winning the initial roll.
