How long does Enigma/VMProtect protect you from getting VAC'd?
Sorry I'm still a noob in all these things. I'm wondering let's say I download a detected hack but I protect it with VMProtect or Enigma. Will VAC still detect it?

Yes... If its detected it goes in VAC's system and anyone caught using a detected cheat will get banned.

It helps keeping you secure when using an undetected hack but I would not advise to use it on a detected hack.
