Luck
What do you guys consider being lucky? I honestly am not sure what luck is. As some of you may know, my cousin had to undergo a surgery to treat a tumor in the bottom left section of his lung. The doctors in Copa D'or hospital told us that it was a 70% success rate since it hasn't spread. So on February 28th my cousin went to the oncology examinations and he began his surgery. It was 2 in the morning during the surgery when the doctors finished and told us that his bronchus in the left lung had collapsed. But he was lucky enough to still be alive. They put him on a breathing aid machine which makes me really angry every time I see it. Now my cousin went from being a human to a vegetable. I don't know if this is luck, he is in worst shape than before. Has anyone experienced this? And if so, is this luck?
He isnt even really living at that point, which really sucks.
ahm, thats horrible.....doctors dont really know the percentage of things because there are so many variables but i hope he will get out of this
Happened to my brother, it's a long story , something worse happened to him but it's just terrible

but apperently all these things happen for a reason
It just happens. Your cousin may or may not be lucky. It's all in the eye of the survivor. As for luck, I think it's random.
Master! You've posted again! I'm so happy to see you!

Anyways, I just want to start by saying that I feel really sorry for you, your cousin and your family. I'm not the biggest expert on this kind of stuff, but I remember a really distant relative of mine had a similar surgery. His chances were pretty low but he ended up the same way your cousin is. Your cousin is pretty much a vegetable, so I'm not sure if that's the best of luck but I guess he's lucky for not immediately dying mid-surgery.

Just to make sure, is this one of those situations where the person is basically in a coma and can be taken off of life support but there is a chance this person can recover from the coma?

Oh fuck, then you're in a pretty great situation (considering the other possible things). My uncle went in a coma for almost three years until his closest family members decided to end his life support.

Is he paralyzed to the point where he can't speak or move his hands? I hope he gets better man.
