Do assists affect K/D?

Hey guys,

This might be a stupid question, and it probably doesn't but I'll ask it anyway (just to make sure). Ohh, and I can't check it myself as I fuckedup my Kills and Deaths

So yeah, I'm making a little tool for prestige/levels/exp/etc and might add some hacks. But when I adjust my kills or deaths MW3 doesn't automatically update the K/D ratio. So I want to make it so that my tool does update it when you adjust either your kills or deaths. But my question is whether assists count there. I've seen some games that count 2 assists as 1 kill. Again, it probably doesn't but I just want to make sure
