Is it possible to get hacked if someone just has your email address?

Depends, some people know how to, pretty sure they need to know a little more about you.

Why hack your account when they can hack SLVRDLLR and screw him up for good?

Yes, its really easy if you have a PW which is 6 chars long or shorter and only conatins letters.

With an email and some general info you can try and bruteforce passwords. Just don't have an easy password or a password that contains anything that is public info about you (Facebook, etc.)

No matter what your password is there is always a way to find it out, may be easy, may be hard. Some people can easily just type in your email and get the password with some kind of tool. Some will ask you questions and fool you into saying your password out loud.
Just don't ever believe those scrubs in nexus saying ''BUYING ACCOUNTS'' or ''WILL HELP YOU MAX ON YOUR ACCOUNT'' and shit like that.
