Depends on the knife and its intended application.

There are tons of sharpening tutorials with a whetstone.
The most common angle is 20 degrees. I'd say the closest example of getting that angle would be to take 2 quarters and put it on your stone.
Take your knife and rest it blade down on the quarters. That should get you relatively close to 20 degrees.
With that stone I provided you want to go diagonally corner to corner. Nice and smooth no need to add shit loads of pressure.
Do one side like 10 times, then flip and repeat.

It's a survival knife. (look on the first page, that one) I heard it's suppose to be at a 23 degree angle, but no idea how to get that angle.

I have a couple decorative katanas, one combat worthy katana, a bowie knife, a dagger, a naval sword, a couple of knives my great grandfather made one of which i carry at all times, and a few pocket knives.

If you have a basic understanding of geometry, then you should.

Anyways, your knives are all shit. Give me 5 hours, and I'll post my godly collection of amazing knives ending up costing me tens of thousands of dollars.

By the way, if you dare argue with me, you are a fool. I am a grand master knife collector.

OT: Used to have some decent knives, but now all I carry around on me is a small butterfly knife used for self-defense or to show off how I can flip it around and shit.

You can always buy a controlled angle knife sharpener. Those start at $30. Lansky has some good ones. But before you invest into a decent sharpening system, throw out your "survival knife." It's absolute shit and will end up doing you more harm than good, especially in an actual survival situation. Buy an ESEE Izula.
