There is a lot of depth in this piece, which I like, but the background looks like it's moving, or like I need to go to the opticians, not far away. And I can't even tell if the shape at the top right is in the foreground or background.

I think a pointy C4D would work better than the bubbles.
The blur is good at making the focal pop out (the render) but the bubbles are so big it still distracts more than the render.
Look to the piece you got and get 3-4 colors max. (Black, White and 2 other colors max!, remember) You got yellow, green blue, black white...
Plus try to work more shadowing in some areas.
3.5-4/10 to be honest.

Honestly one thing that you should work on improving next, and something that would make your tags 10x better, is your color schemes. At the moment, 90% of your tags are either just splattered with an insane amount of different colors that don't mesh well, and is simply overwhelming, or you have a couple colors and the colors you chose don't go well together or with the render.

Really? I can't see a problem with colour scheme, blue bubbles and orange lights/glow are complementary. And all the rest is a shade of blue imo so I'd say it's a split/complementary scheme.

Also, I'm in the Cocksucker group so all my words get auto-capitalized. I have no choice in the matter. If you look at when you quote me, my text is normal.

Im not liking the size of your canvas.. Everything seems random and the color scheme is a bit off..
try working with 500x300 or even 500x500..

also darken the edges a bit bring in the light a bit more and not as much if that makes any sense.

I can agree with the color scheme needing improvement. I do think depth is improving however everything is blurred the same amount. It is better than everything being sharpened or at least too many things being sharpened. It's also a lot less cluttered.

I'm not sure if you have seen this tut, but it covers a lot of the basics quite well and you would benefit from reading the entire thing.
