Need help with eggcrack
I've looked through several tutorials for this software and it seems I'm doing everything right.

I have tried the 2.0 version and 1.8. I used a list of about 200 unmigrated account usernames, the recommended password list provided by the creator I'd assume, 200 threads (which my computer should be able to handle) and a list of a couple hundred working and checked http elite proxies from gatherproxy's proxy scraper. I start up the program and it immediately goes up to about 40 attempts/second, but after a few seconds it slowly drops down to 0, fluctuating between 0-2 attempts/second. Any advice? Sorry I can't post screenshots. I'm on a mobile device.
This is normal behaviour. The same thing happens for me aswell. When EggCrack is starting the threads it gets an extremely high amount of attempts for some reason and drops when it reached the maximum amount of threads. If you want a higher amount of attempts per second you need faster proxies.
If you've already tried a downgraded version (which from the looks of it you did), I'd suggest moving the thread speed down to about 25-50 and seeing if it runs from there. If it's successful and runs good, continue bumping up the thread speed until you hit your limit. If this doesn't work, downgrade to an earlier build and try again. Please post back your results so I can learn something as well .
I lowered the threads to the default 32, and also noticed something else. It only tests for the first 2 items on the password list, the username and 'minecraft'. Also, the attempts/sec would normally stay at 1 but the total attempts would only go up every 20 or so seconds. I added a bunch of SOCKS proxies and lowered the time out to 3000ms (I'd assume this eliminates slow proxies. I was still left with 400 working). I tried 1.6 and the same result. Is this still normal? If not is it an issue with my proxies? If so where should I look to get better ones?

As I stated in my previous post on this thread this is because of your proxies. If you want high attempts/second you need proxies with a <1 second response time. To get those you either scrape them yourself or buy private proxies. Also set your threads back to 200 as lowering will do nothing except slowing it down.
I have tried again with over 1000 socks4/5 proxies with under 1000ms response time and I don't see any noticable difference. Are there any other steps I can take to speed up the proccess?

You need a lot more proxies.
EggCrack uses authserver.mojang.com/authenticate which bans most public proxies.

The recommended password list, 30 in total I think.

How many should I have?

With a good computer, internet, proxies and small password list you should be getting more than 1 attempt per second.

If you google "gather proxy" and click subscribe on their website, after you sign up you will be able to download a daily updated list of proxies (usually has around 6,000+ in it). That's where I get mine when I'm trying to crack
