Hey guys, I am about to sell my steam to someone and the payment method is paypal.
So, can you please tell me how to avoid paypal 'scam', aka chargebacks.
Someone told me that you can avoid being scammed if the buyer uses the 'send to a family member' option.

Well still they can simply open a dispute claiming unauthorized trade. I prefer you to trade with trusted people or use bitcoin.

I use btc, but they don't, so that sucks. I've heard that someone got scammed for $700 earlier this month.

Yeh, so ask the buyer to exchange it to bitcoin, or simply use an alt, and ask him to send it to the alt. From alt to the main, so even if he chargebacks since you wouldn't have any money on alt, no way of getting scammed.

Don't have an alt, and I will see if he can get btc somehow.

Don't try to exchange $500+ from an exchanger, chances of them being legit are so low, simply ask him to provide his ID and his face and put a picture on the note and say it was for digital goods.

ID should match account on Paypal so they know it's not "unauthorized."

I wouldn't recommend doing a large deal on digital items, since Paypal usually never has Seller Protection

haven't seen anyone providing his/her ID, since they might be used for different purposes.

15 days? Meaning goods and services? well yes, he can even get a refund before 15 days being fullfilled.

So, he can refund his money whenever he wants? Or he must refund it in 30 days?

he can refund before 180 before the transaction get's archived.

Basically anyone can chargeback on paypal by calling paypal and say they didn't send the money and that someone else did it. This also works for f&f payments.

Safest way is to use bitcoin or get them to send a giftcard code (careful if they send a non-working one)

or you can have them take a picture of their face with their ID, matching names on paypal and ID.

Sure, but steam account can be easily recovered using your first email. So the buyer has to be cautious too.

Or tell him to open dispute on Paypal and close it afterwards. He cannot open another dispute in the future.
