Computer Freezes when not using an Application?

Hey guys.

My computer seems to freeze and requires a hard reboot randomly after not having an application open. The only program that will keep my computer on is when I leave Battlegrounds open in the background. As soon as I turn it off tho, it gets into an endless boot cycle. Until FINALLY booting up maybe once out of 20 times.

Any ideas?

Specs: i5-4690k
GTX 1060 6gb
corsair CX750M
8gb ram
Z97-G55 sli motherboard
SSD 250 gb

Note: Windows isn't genuine

Check to see if the issue occurs in safe mode, if it doesn't then try a clean boot.

(can't respond back for a few days)

5 See defrag the logs here Control Panels>>Administrative Tools>>Event Viewer>>Windows Logs>>Application. If you see multiple "Defrag" records, choose the one with the date and time of your interest. See(the folder/file) where your defrag process stopped. Most likely it will be one of the files of your steam games.
6. Delete all files and folders of that game.
7 Reboot. *PC Fixed*

Delete C:\Windows\System32\Defrag.exe .
No Defragmentation=No Freeze. (Disabling or killing the process won't work as it continues to work in background when system is left idle.)

Safemode works. A clean boot would require windows again, so

If I want to clean boot can I still have a windows 10 key

I have windows 7 currently.

Gonna try defragging meow

mainboard hardware manufacturer tech support manager here

1. how long has your system been functioning prior to this issue ?
2. any hardware changes done recently ?
3. Mainboard BIOS version is up to date ?

Deleted it. I'm scared to restart it and have it risk freezing..

Cant you just reset your pc? Everytime i think i have a virus i do that lmao.

Removing one of the RAM sticks seems to have done it..
